Blank space for Instagram: highlights, bio and captions

Highlight names that read as empty, and blank lines that survive the moment you press share — these are the blank characters Instagram actually keeps.

Copy a blank space for highlight names

Copy one of these characters, paste it into the highlight's name field, done — a clean profile with unnamed highlight circles.

Checked for 2026: every character's properties are verified against the Unicode database each time this site is published.

Nameless highlights, step by step

  1. Copy a character above. First choice is the Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) — it never renders as a placeholder box, even on older devices.
  2. Long-press the highlight on your profile and choose «Edit highlight».
  3. Delete the name, long-press the field, and tap «Paste».
  4. Save — done. The same character works for every other highlight.

If it will not save, switch to the second character (Hangul Filler). The app's validation rules move with updates — one of the two nearly always goes through.

Keep the empty lines in your caption

Instagram swallows empty lines when you post. Paste your text below: each empty line receives an invisible character, and your paragraphs stay exactly where you put them.

Why empty lines vanish

When a post is saved, Instagram tidies away «redundant whitespace». A line holding nothing but a line break counts as empty and gets collapsed. Put an invisible character on that line, though, and the app sees a line with content — so it stays. Visually nothing changes. That is the entire trick.

The same principle carries over to bios, comments and notes. For the wider selection — all 36 characters with their groups and byte sizes — head to the main character library, where the test area also confirms your copy arrived intact.

When it does not work

The character gets lost on paste. Some keyboard apps «clean up» pasted text and throw invisible characters away. Paste straight from this page into Instagram, without a stop in a notes app.

The highlight name is refused. Change the character, or paste two of them back to back. If both fail, the app has probably changed its rules — a short note through the contact form helps us update this page for everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the blank highlight name permanent?

The character itself is regular Unicode and does not expire. Only the app's validation rules can change — and then you simply swap in another character from the same group in the library.

Do my followers see anything odd?

No. The name simply reads as empty; no special marker appears. The round highlight cover displays exactly as normal.

Does this work on TikTok too?

Yes — the same characters work anywhere text is typed: TikTok captions, profiles, Discord and beyond. Strictly-validated name fields are the one exception; those need the username-safe group from the library, and TikTok's name field has its own walkthrough.
