Invisible TikTok name: how to get a blank profile

✓ The technical facts in this article are checked against the Unicode database every time this site is published.

A TikTok profile where the name line is simply… not there. No dot, no dash, just clean space above the @handle. TikTok will not accept an empty name field — but it will accept a name whose only content is invisible. This guide shows the character that does it, the steps, and the honest list of ways it can go wrong.

Nickname versus username — know which one blanks

TikTok gives you two names. The username (the @handle) is restricted to plain letters, numbers, underscores and periods — nothing invisible will ever pass there, on any account. The nickname — the display name above it — accepts the full range of Unicode, and that is where the trick lives. Everything below applies to the nickname only.

The character that passes the check

A name field wants content: type only spaces and TikTok trims them away and complains. What survives is the Hangul Filler (U+3164) — a Korean typographic character that Unicode officially classes as a letter. To the validator it is as legitimate as the letter A; on screen it is nothing. Copy it with one tap from the invisible character tool (the «In a hurry? Copy one» button hands you exactly one).

The steps in the app

  1. Copy the character — one is enough.
  2. In TikTok, open Profile → Edit profile → Name.
  3. Clear the field, long-press it, and choose Paste.
  4. Save. The nickname now displays as blank space.

One quirk to know: TikTok limits how often the nickname can be changed (currently once every 7 days). If you experiment, experiment deliberately — a failed attempt still spends the change.

The three usual failure modes

  1. You pasted a real space. Some keyboards replace pasted content silently. Before saving, paste into the tool's test area instead — if the counter shows «1 invisible», your clipboard is right; if it shows a plain space, copy again directly from the button.
  2. The app rejected that codepoint. Validation rules shift with app updates. Swap in a sibling from the same group — the Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) is the usual second choice, though it occupies a small visible width.
  3. It saved, but shows a box on someone's phone. Very old devices may draw U+3164 as a hollow rectangle. There is no character that is blank on every device ever made; U+3164 and U+2800 come closest, and between them they cover practically everything modern.

Does TikTok allow this?

The character is ordinary Unicode, and displaying a blank nickname breaks no rule in TikTok's published guidelines that we can find. What moderation actually tolerates can change without notice, though — that is TikTok's call, not ours. The practical risks are smaller ones: friends cannot search for a name that has no letters, and support conversations get awkward when your account is named nothing. If you rely on being found, consider a blank name a costume, not a home.
